Situated In a strategic position between Alba, and the hills of the Alta Langa, in the heart of a UNESCO world heritage site and landscape known for its outstanding natural beauty and prestigious vineyards, fascinating medieval castle of historic interest, suitable for conversion into small luxury hotel, holiday accommodation or spectacular private residence.

The origins of the hamlet of Borgomale date back to the 9th century, when it was cited as a fortification belonging to the Bishop of Asti. Over the centuries the castle was extended and improved, and through the passage of time became the seat of powerful local nobility such as the Marquis del Vasto, Marquis di Ceva and Cortemilia and Del Carretto di Gorzegno, among many others. The original structure had 5 towers, and a drawbridge which was subsequently replaced in the 1700’s by an elevated covered walkway which remains today.

The castle boasts many original features and has recently undergone a substantial structural renovation as well as complete roof repairs.

From the main square of Borgomale, a large wooden door opens into an internal courtyard and garden (7000sqm approx.). arousing a sensation of stepping back in time.

The castle is accessed through the wine cellars on the ground floor or via the romantic covered walkway which leads directly onto the 3td floor which houses the noble apartments that extend over a further 2 floors.

Interiors are characterized by high vaulted ceilings and fireplaces, as well as a magnificent stone central staircase that leads to a rooftop panoramic terrace with breath-taking views over the surrounding countryside.

These spaces could be easily renovated and converted into numerous independent spacious suites or apartments.

The ground floor with exit onto the grounds has an enormous split-level entertaining space and several wine cellars. The first and second floors have further cellars, with wooden galleried staircases, the original kitchen and private chapel. For more information please call our office.
